LDM announces second driver ahead of Perth SuperSprint

23 year old Matt Brabham, Former Indianapolis 500 entrant and Grandson of three time world F1 Champion Sir Jack Brabham and son of 10 time Indy 500 starter Geoff Brabham has accepted a last minute call up from Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport to debut in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship this weekend.

Long time sponsor Phil Munday owner of Repair Management Australia Racing will be backing the 23 year old this weekend with the stand out Black blue and orange RMA livery.

“Obviously this has all come together at the last minute and has been a bit of a surprise, but we will give it the best shot we can,” said Brabham.

“When Phil (Munday) rang to see if I was interested it was obviously from way left field, but exciting at the same time. Phil has a track record of supporting young drivers in the sport and this is just another example and I am looking forward to rewarding his faith in me.”

Brabham arrived in Australia on Monday, whilst overcoming jetlag he spent today at the LDM garage familiarizing himself with the #3 entry he will be behind the wheel of.

Paul Morris will be mentoring the newcomer as he is also part of the SST Series and spends quite a bit of time with Brabham in the US also.

“I am under no illusions about the expectations this weekend, but if I can get a bit of exposure for LDM and get a few laps under my belt in a Supercar then it works for all the stakeholders.

“I will be out there with plenty of guys I used to race karts against so it should be cool.”

Practice one kicks off tomorrow at 12:00pm AWST.
