Dampened weekend for LDM

As the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint wraps up for another year LDM will be taking both car #62 and #3 back to Melbourne in less parts than they arrived in. In what was an unforgiving weekend of terrible weather and unfortunate events the team will be returning home to rebuild two cars.

As practice began on the Friday LDM unveiled a twin livery line up with Repair Management Australia backing both entries for the weekend.

Taz Douglas showed improvement throughout the Friday practice sessions and was confident ahead of qualifying and race 3 on Saturday.

Starting 25th on the grid Douglas attempted to make up positions, but two laps into the race disaster struck the middle of the pack. Unfortunately Douglas sustained substantial damage to the car and was forced to withdraw from the rest of the race meeting over the weekend.

“Unfortunately I got motorsported this weekend, anyone in the industry would know this term, Said Douglas.

It started out okay but it went from bad to worse.”

A huge thanks to the guys and girls of LDM who worked tirelessly over the weekend, Bring on Phillip Island.”

Young gun Alex Rullo proved himself in the wet weather conditions. Picking up the pace throughout the Friday and Saturday practice sessions.

After qualifying 23rd for race 3, Rullo started the raced on a wet compound Dunlop tyre. Two laps into the race he also suffered the same fate as his teammate.

The crew worked through the night to get the #62 car repaired in time for the Sunday qualifying and race 4.

Rullo started the race in Position 22 after causing a red flag in qualifying. After getting a good start and holding Position 17 for the majority of the race, a slight mistake in the closing laps speared him onto the wet grass, making contact with the tyre barriers before entering the pits.

“We dealt with some tough conditions this weekend, I cant wait to move forward to Phillip Island and continue improving like I was at Clipsal and the Grand Prix, Said Rullo.

The crew worked extremely hard, huge credits to them for getting me back into the race for Sunday.”
