A Step Back in Time with Phil Munday’s Panel Works

LD Motorsport will be sporting a Retro looking VF Holden Commodore for the upcoming “Retro Round” Wilson Security Sandown 500.

Car #62 will dawn a truly ‘original’ livery based around the first company branding logo of longtime partner Phil Monday’s Panel Works which first opened its doors in 1977 in Bayswater, Victoria.

“I started in business when I was 19 with a small panel shop, this was my very first company logo! It’s hard to believe it was almost 40 years ago,” laughed Munday.

“Our livery is based around the 40 year anniversary this year, we have had some retro themed t-shirts made for all our long time staff who have worked with me over the 40 years.

“The design turned out so well we decided to carry it across to the retro round as it was a great celebration of the business.

“It’s great to have the retro round where everyone has the chance to show off their old school designs! A lot of creativity and thought goes into this round” said Munday.

It’s hard to believe that this will be Alex Rullo’s Pirtek Enduro Cup debut. At 17 years of age he will be the youngest driver in the field and will certainly gain from having co-driver Alex Davison.

“I’m defiantly looking forward to the Enduro’s, I think the Endurance rounds provide more elements of the race and I think we can use that to our advantage, said Rullo.

“I’m looking forward to working with Alex again, working with him has been great so far and I feel we have taught each other a few things along the way.

With 23 endurance starts under his belt, Alex Davison has seen the ups and downs that come with the long distance events. Rullo will surely benefit from having such an experienced driver backing him up. Davison will also compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Sandown Event where he currently sits 3rd in overall standings.

The Wilson Security Sandown 500 kicks off on Friday 15th September with the first practice session at 11:15am
